Tabbert caravan windows

In 1953 Alfred Tabbert Karosseriewerk is founded in Bad Kissingen. In 1964 the ten-thousandth caravan leaves the production line. In 1965 Tabbert had five production sites: Bad Kissingen, Mottgers, and Mitterteich, for caravans, and Aschbach and Gersheim for furniture and parts. In 1972 Alfred Tabbert, then almost 65 years old, sold his company to Castrol GmbH, a subsidiary of Burmah-Oil. In 1985, Dr. Gerd Sanmann takes over the producer and is registered as Tabbert Caravan GmbH in Sinntal – Mottgers.

After the takeover of Wilk, both companies were incorporated into TIAG Tabbert Industrie AG in 1987. The branches in Bad Kreuznach (Wilk) and Dresden will close (loss of two hundred jobs). In 1992 TIAG takes over Weinsberg, a manufacturer of motorhomes. In 1996 a close collaboration with Knaus AG was established, which led, among other things, to Weinsberg becoming Knaus in 1998. In 1996 the hundred-thousandth Tabbert leaves the line. The largest annual production ever was 15,000 units.

Tabbert's motorhome brand, FFB, existed until 1999, after which Tabbert focuses entirely on the production of caravans. In June 1997, Knaus acquired a 27 percent share in TIAG, which was expanded to 77 percent six months later. In 2001 a merger takes place between TIAG Tabbert Industrie AG and Knaus GmbH Jandelsbrunn, resulting in Knaus Tabbert Group GmbH.

On October 9, 2008, the Knaus-Tabbert group filed for bankruptcy after management failed to file an adequate surrender plan with the banks. On January 1, 2009, Knaus-Tabbert was taken over by HTP Investments BV from Venlo, and Tabbert was also saved.
