Eriba-Hymer caravan windows
In 1956 the first Eribas were built in Bad Waldsee by Erich Bachem together with Wolf Hirth. In fact, these two already built some caravans called Aero Sport before the war. They were built by Alfons Hymer, a body shop in Bad Waldsee, and in 1957 the trading company Eriba Hymer Fahrzeugbau was founded. From that moment on, Alfons' son Erwin Hymer (who remains director / owner until his death on 11 April 2013) also worked there.
The Puck is introduced in 1958. In 1960 Erich Bachem died unexpectedly. The introduction of a motorhome follows in 1961, but shortly afterwards production has to be stopped due to the bankruptcy of the chassis manufacturer Borgward. The reintroduction of the Hymermobil followed in 1972. In 1968 the factory in Bad Waldsee burns down completely. The Touring models were built in a French factory in the period 1970-2009.
Between 1976 and 1982 Erwin Hymer was a partner in Middendorf GmbH (Frankia). In 1980 Messrs Thurn and Eicker (TEC) and Erwin Hymer set up CMC. The TEC, Hymer and Dethleffs brands were incorporated here. Hymer-Eriba GmbH originates from Eriba GmbH & Co and Hymer KG. In 1983 Erwin Hymer acquires the exclusive rights of CMC.(Caravan MotorCaravan).
In 1991 Erwin Hymer takes over the ailing LMC and places it in CMC. Hymer is lifted from CMC. In 1996 Hymer AG took over Niesmann und Bischoff GmbH. Hymer AG took over Bürstner on 5 May 1998 and Laika caravans SpA in 2000. from Italy. On April 11, 2013 Erwin Hymer dies at the age of 82.
